Learn the basics of “improv” quilting with creative freedom and without the restrictive rules that can overwhelm new (and even experienced!) quilters! In six sessions, students will learn the fundamentals of constructing a quilt and more than 6+ quilt blocks and techniques which allow learners to springboard into their own unique arrangements and creations. Students will complete a pieced “flimsy” top, ready to be quilted.
This class is for you if you are:
- A novice who has used a sewing machine but never made a quilt
- A quilter wishing to expand your creativity without use of a prescribed pattern
- Seeking weekly space & time for personal creativity and meeting others like you in a wonderful sewing space!
RETURNING: Basic Improv Quilting Part 2: “Finish Line”
(4-classes) Wednesdays 6-9pm 10/29 – 11/19/25 Location: John Adams Center, room 312 Do you have a quilt top you started but don’t know how to finish? Or a quilt top from Grandma or an estate sale and want to finish it? This class is for you! Students will learn how to make a completed quilt from a fabric quilt top “flimsy” and complete all the steps to turn it into a finished quilt, table runner or wall hanging.
